What if you could make a difference just by running? There are young women in Afghanistan who participated in that country’s first Marathon. They have used running as a way to speak out about gender equality and to demonstrate their right to run freely in public. They’re also changing the narrative about Afghanistan from one of poverty, war and terror to one of hope.
They inspire us. In fact, they inspired us so much that we wanted to show our solidarity. Around the world there are those who don’t feel safe to run in their community due to violence, gender discrimination, fear of attacks at night being harassed. We want to change that.
You can make a difference by donating in support of the Girl Guides of Canada.
I will be walking/running in Sudbury in the Secret Marathon on MARCH 4, 2020 at 6:30pm.
This isn't about running the fastest. This isn't about running the furthest. This is about the right to run at all.
