The Orange Hippos is a team named by Emmett. He loves Hippos! He loves Orange! He loves life! Emmett has Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Type 1. This genetic disease virutally stops the brain from communicating with muscles. Due to research and fundraising, there is now a treatment for this disease which was untreatable when Emmett was born! Emmett was 1 of 124 kids - involved since he was seven months old - in a 'blind study' of this new treatment. It works! The drug is now approved in Canada but with only limited access. Change is happening. Support Cure SMA!
