Added Feature: Walk adjusted factor:
The Running Room training program stress walk breaks so we have come up with a great tool to factor in the impact of walk breaks on your overall pace calculation.

What's New in this Version
Added Run/Walk Timer. This is the ideal tool to use for your Run/Walk training and racing. The PRO version allows you set any custom Run/Walk interval including the "10 and 1's". The timer is set to play a specially recorded "walk" message from John Stanton after your run interval and a "run" message after your walk interval repeatedly. You can also select any song or audio file from your device's library to play for your alarm instead.

The timer has a visual update of the time, play/pause and reset controls and a lock feature to prevent the controls from being accidentally tapped on while the timer is running.

Added a new navigation tab bar to access the most popular tools.

Calorie Calculator
Estimate the number of calories burned in your most recent run or walk.
Use the Running Room calorie calculator to estimate the number of calories burned in your most recent workout. Various conditions, including terrain and temperature, can affect the actual number of calories burned, but the calorie calculator nevertheless provides a useful estimate.

The number of calories used in a workout is based primarily on how far you go, not how fast you get there. John Stanton in his books on Running and Walking stresses that there's little difference in the number of calories burned by walking versus running the same distance. If you run primarily for weight control, in other words, you'll find that running LSR (long slow runs) will burn more calories than running short and fast.

Race Equivalency
Predict a Race Time Based on Your Times at Races of Other Distances
Did you just run your first 10km and are wondering how that pace would translate if you wanted to run a marathon?
What kind of marathon you can expect to run based on that recent half marathon time?
Just fill in a recent race distance and time. then enter a second race distance to find out what time you might expect to run at that distance.

Pace calculator
Calculate your running pace per mile or kilometre with the Running Room pace calculator.
To calculate your pace, fill in the fields (Distance | Time | Walk Adjustment) and leave the math to us. We will display Pace per mile/kilometer, mph / kph, and more.

This calculator helps you set the target pace for all types of training through your weekly schedule - Easy Run | Tempo Run | Speed Work | Long Runs | Race Pace | Walk Adjusted Race Pace.

Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women.

BMI is a useful measure of overweight and obesity. It is calculated from your height and weight. BMI is an estimate of body fat and a good gauge of your risk for diseases that can occur with more body fat. The higher your BMI, the higher your risk for certain diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, gallstones, breathing problems, and certain cancers.

Although BMI can be used for most men and women, it does have some limits:
It may overestimate body fat in athletes and others who have a muscular build.
It may underestimate body fat in older persons and others who have lost muscle.
Enter your weight and height using standard or metric measures.
Select "CalculateI" and your BMI will appear below.

Step Distance
Have you ever wanted to know how far you have walked based on step count? The Running Room Step Distance Calculator allows you to determine distance by either height-based average stride length or exact stride length.

Using an average stride length based on your height, calculate your distance walked based on stride length and number of steps.Using your stride length, calculate your distance walked based on your stride length and number of steps.

Pace Band
A pace band is a convenient way to determine your split times for your next long run or race. Just choose a race distance and your goal time from the tool menus. Click the "CREATE" button and the site will display a customized pace band for you. This is a create tool to use if you run with your iPhone or iPod or to simply give you a reference in your long run and race planning.

Added Feature: Walk adjusted factor:
The Running Room training program stress walk breaks so we have come up with a great tool to factor in the impact of walk breaks on your overall pace calculation.

When you are walking, you are moving slower than your "average" pace. When you are running, you are moving faster than your "average pace". The walk adjusted pace band attempts to factor in the variation in walking and running speed.

The difficulty with walk adjusted pace bands is knowing average speed of your walking pace. We have found that most runners have no idea what their walking speed is.

We have devised a formula to calculate moderate walk pace, which allows us to determine the exact splits including running and walking pace. The effect of this calculation is that the 'Walk Adjusted' run pace is faster per km/m than the average race pace. However when calculated with your walk pace you end up with your target race pace.

Save your preferences (Metric or Standard). This will set the default for all km/mile selectors.
