You always read about people eating spagetti the night before a race and I was wondering just howmany people prefer pasta?
Personaly I have a good sized bowl of rice, usually as part of a stir-fry or with some sauce. _________________

My mum's Italian, so naturally she makes her own sauce. Aside from being the yummiest thing on earth, it has an added benefit: precisely 12 hours after I eat it, a certain GI event takes place.
Combined with the awesome carbs from pasta, it makes for the perfect night-before dinner for me. _________________ 2006 HSBC Calgary Marathon: 3:39

| My church organizes a local triathlon every summer, and we always have a pasta supper for all the traithletes the night before - courtesy of the church ladies of course! It's almost as popular as the actual race itself. Yay pasta! |

I'm big on either brown rice and veggies, whole grain pasta or a big dinner of something with baked potatoes. I usually go for the rice though as I'm a brown rice addict. |

Pasta the night before a long run or race, without exception. Tomorrow night - Penne Arabiata (May (I think) Runner's World magazine - Fuel Section). _________________ Living Aloha |

I try to have pasta the night before, but for much of the week before I'm loading up on potatoes -- fires, chips, mashed, etc. I actually prefer potatoes, but when it comes to cooking supper at home, pasta is the easier option because I can do more quick things with it and my wife prefers it. _________________ In 2012:

I hate pasta, especially those with tomato or cream sauce, I like noodles, all kinds. If I am out of town for a marathon, the night before I would go to a Chinese restaurant and order two plate of stir-fried noodles. I prefer the Singapore noodles with curry and the Shanghai noodles. Lots of carbs!! _________________ Disneyland Half Marathon 08/31/08

I'm good with whatever. But I prefer pasta...only thing is my wife doesn't like it (afraid of carbs). Last night though it was pizza on whole wheat crust (we were too lazy to cook) and that worked out well. She only has a couple slices and I get the rest! _________________ Jim

I'm a new subscriber (within the past 2.5 years) to the high carb meal TWO nights before the race, not the night before (and of course the proper carb loading for the weeks coming up to the race). I eat a lightish dinner the night before, still with carbs, just not hugely loaded with them. I changed my system when I joined an awesome athletic group in the city. They are amazing.

Great advice....a lot of people eat a huge meal the night before a race, then wonder why they didn't run up to their potential. All you can eat "pasta parties" should be avoided, unless you have the self control to only fill up the plate once.
I also make sure I eat very well for 2 weeks before an "A" race, and eat earlier than normal the day before (4:30 instead of 6pm) with a smaller portion, but still loaded with carbs......meat Lasagne, with garlic bread _________________ If you run long enough....something is bound to happen !
